This article reinforces one of the reasons why I have become vegetarian. Many resources are being wasted in order to rear animals for meat-eating, and as meat consumption rises this will place a greater strain on our planet.
Unfortunately, it is a problem that is difficult to address because food consumption is a highly personal choice. Ask the average person to reduce their meat intake for the sake of saving the Earth and you’ll probably get a blank stare and a reply along the lines of “but I like eating meat”.
I will not force my family or children to become vegetarian, it’s their choice. But one thing I will absolutely not allow are endangered animals to be consumed in the house. No shark’s fin, and if you think shark’s fin is a “delicacy” I want to slap your face.
