Those who play Magic: The Gathering should know where this blog’s name comes from. Cruel Ultimatum is a very famous card that is widely feared for its ability to finish your opponent off.
Now, Wizards has finally created a card that is the flavour-counter to Cruel Ultimatum. A planeswalker Ugin card, where his ultimate ability performs the reverse effect of Cruel Ultimatum. His second ability mimics the effects of Pernicious Deed, another famously powerful card (although Ugin’s ability exiles, not sacrifices all permanents — in my opinion this is more powerful because it denies your opponents any graveyard resources).
Time and time again, Wizards keeps introducing new cards and expansion sets that make me excited as a casual fan. I’m pretty sure that the hardcore MTG players are just as piqued. This is why I will never be able to enjoy Hearthstone. Too simple, too random, and lacking in depth and balance.
