Played lesser games this week because we had an amazing 14 players (!!) crowded around the machines. I can’t remember the last time we had this many people, not even when CC v1.05 first came out back in November 2011.
Met a new Japanese player, Takumi-san, who is here in Singapore to study for one year. He plays the character everyone hates: C-Nanaya, but unlike many Nanaya players his tactics and approach are quite legit. He claims to be rusty because he hasn’t touched the game for two years, but he still manages to exhibit the traditional Japanese MB playstyle and mentality: solid reads, great movement and spacing, and unpredictable pressure.
I have said this before many times in the past: a fighting game is only as dead as the community wants it to be. A splendid arcade night like this makes me proud of being part of this small but active MB community in Singapore. Everyone was having fun, cheering each other on and screaming whenever a glaring mistake or dropped combo occured (both are the signatures of the Singapore Melty playstyle).
Melty Night lives on (Actress) Again.
