Played a lot lesser this week because I had classes in the evening, but still managed to squeeze in some few games. I lied about wanting to learn C-Sion. Somehow I ended up playing F-Ryougi instead. After years of relying on Sion’s DP as an anti-air and reversal, it feels strange playing a character who has absolutely no reversals whatsover (unless F-Ryougi has access to her Blood Heat AAD, but even then, it requires the opponent to be in a throwable state on the ground). If I’m being pressured, especially in the corner, I have no choice but to block properly. Her 2A comes out slow and cannot be mashed, her 5A has shorter reach compared to Sion or VSion’s 5As. And Ryougi’s counter holds have a lot of startup — again, not a true reversal.
Still, I hope I can get good enough with Ryougi someday and use her as a pocket character to complement Sion. It’s kind of blasphemous for a Ryougi fan to not know how to use her, don’t you think?
